On the occasion of the start of the electoral campaign for the elections on 20 December, the first training activity aimed at members of the Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel et de la Communication (CSAC) took place in Kinshasa on 13 and 14 November) – around 35 people – for monitoring political pluralism and infringements during the electoral period.
The training activity, managed by the Osservatorio di Pavia researcher Pietro Tesfamariam, was organized as part of Unis pour la Démocratie – Des médias citoyens et engagés pour le renforcement de la culture démocratique en RDC 2023-2025. The project, launched in September 2023 and lasting two years, is financed by the European Commission with the contribution of the Swiss International Cooperation, and includes the Osservatorio di Pavia in collaboration with the Swiss NGO Fondation Hirondelle. The Osservatorio deals in particular with support to the CSAC, the media regulatory body, both through training and consultancy activities for monitoring the media during the electoral campaign and by providing support in an advocacy strategy to propose a new regulation of online media.
